Dolphin Cruise and flying to Cairns

After our breakfast buffet, we had a bit of time to roam around Shoal Bay.  What a beautiful place!  We loaded the coach and went to the marina and boarded a boat for our dolphin watching cruise.  It was an absolutely beautiful day...the water was fairly calm....and we saw dolphins swimming around our boat!  We looked for a whale and her baby...but never spotted it.

Some of our group put on their swimsuits and went into the boomnet...or something like that.  It's a HUGE net that's hooked onto the back of the boat.  They lower it into the water and you can get in the net and let the boat drag you through the water.  I think 7 or 8 of the group did... no worries, I have photos... and some video.

After our cruise we had a great lunch on the marina...had a bit of free time...then boarded the bus for our ride back to Sydney.  We went to the airport, said goodbye to one of our favorite coach drivers so far, Mark, and checked in for our flight to Cairns.

We arrived in Cairns at about 10:30 tonight...getting to the hotel at 11:15 p.m.  (It's 1 a.m. now)  We're off to the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow for our snorkeling, diving, glass bottom boat tour, submarine ride...and who knows what else!   Never fear...I'll have them count and count again to make sure no one is left out on the reef!

It's hard to believe we're now in our last hotel for this journey!
