Sunday in Wellington

After breakfast at the hotel, we made our way to Parliament.  We took some photos of the BeeHive...which is what the newest government building is called.  It looks like..a bee hive!  We had our own special tour of all their governmental buildings...very interesting!  I was impressed with some of the questions our delegates asked.  This was a different level of government than we visited in Rotorua.

Next stop was the Te Papa Museum.  It's pretty incredible...very interactive.  We took a "ride" over New Zealand in a room where the seats move to make you feel like you're in the action!  It was wild..so much so, that one of our delegates was nauseated for a couple of hours afterward!  Each student was given a voucher for lunch for $12 to select their own lunch from Te Papa's restaurant...then we were off to Capital E.

 Moa

We walked from the museum to Capital E, walking along the waterfront...

Capital E was GREAT!  Half the students created their own song and half did a TV show...complete with costumes and all.  I wish I could upload my photos for you to see...but at this hotel, I don't have long on the computer and I couldn't load photos and write....  You can see the video on YouTube, I think...by searching for Snapshot News OnTV, July 10th People to People.  Try that.  They also said something about blip.tv

Sebastian...he had us all laughing so hard!

Megan really should look into a career where her voice is important.  She was definitely a great broadcaster/announcer!
Chelsea the camera-woman!
Rhiannon was another one of the camera-women!  She was also good at directing.. "Matt, you can't laugh!" she calmly told him.
 Yee-haw, KT!
This is how Kiara is cemented in my brain...she was a riot with Sebastian!
 Zoe was a great interviewer!

Sebastian, KT, and Kiara... the team that made us laugh so hard!
 Megan and Angelica...broadcasters extraordinaire!
 Mrs. Cooper
These two eccentric ladies are Kirsten and Aly!
 The director's room...
Jonas, one of the directors, was hard at work...
Carmen and Melissa were the newscasters, the newscasters that had a little trouble keeping up with the cities on the map of New Zealand...
 "Sweet as..."
Marci, another one of our broadcasters...

Rugby player, Sebastian, being interviewed by KT, for Snapshot News....

Rugby player, Kiara, also being interviewed by KT...

Ally was super-excited about her role in the Snapshot News team!
Kate was offering some encouraging words to Ally...

I haven't tried it, it's just what the Capital E people told me.  It was so much fun.  Sebastian had us rolling in the floor, he was so incredibly funny.  Yes, Acacia, your Sebastian!

Next stop was the Weta Cave...where the special effects for Lord of the Rings and Narnia movies were made.  Lots of Lord of the Ring souvenirs were bought there.

Dinner tonight was on a docked boat restaurant...

We leave early in the morning for the south island where we hear it is very cold... and it isn't warm here!

Not sure if we'll have internet for the next two nights...but I'll try!

  1. It's so great to hear what you guys are up to - especially since Jose doesn't like to call home! Sounds like a great time. I'm going to search for the video right now.
